Manually awarding a single badge
Manually awarded badges from Badgr.com do not appear in the Badgr for Canvas LTI app. Visit our Bulk Award page for more information about awarding badges to groups of recipients
Once a badge has been awarded, its data is baked and unchangeable. If you are made aware of a necessary change to a badge after it has been awarded to an individual (such as an error in the spelling of a name), you can make this change by first revoking the badge, and then awarding it again with the correct data.
- Login into Badgr.com and select the Issuers tab from the navigation bar at the top of the screen.
- Select the issuer of the badge you would like to award.
- Select the Badge you would like to award.
-
Select Award Badge.

Optionally Including a Narrative or Evidence with a Badge Award
Narrative text supports Markdown and may consist of personalized information about the award including a writing sample or other reference, or observations/commentary supplied by the issuer. Evidence URLs are typically linked to learning artifacts. These links could go to a published article, a YouTube video, or an online project or photo gallery.
- For the overall Narrative, you may use Markdown formatting to add more information to the badge.
- For Evidence Items, each may include an external URL, a narrative, or both. The narrative of each item often is used to describe what is found at the URL so a badge consumer understands what the content is before viewing.
- Enter information into the appropriate field(s).
- There is one overall Narrative and as many Evidence items as you wish.
- Select the Award Badge button to finish the process and award the badge.

View the awarded badge
- To view the awarded badge, go to the Issuer Detail page.
- Find the badge under Issuer Badges, then select the badge you wish to view.
- Select the Awards tab below the badge.

Revoking a badge in the Badgr app in Canvas
Sometimes a teacher discovers that a badge awarded automatically for module completion needs to be revoked. Perhaps a student broke the plagiarism code of conduct. Badgr allows teachers to revoke badges in cases such as these.
- Log into Canvas and navigate to the course where you are a teacher.
- Alter the student's grade or condition that triggered module completion for the relevant badge so it is not automatically re-awarded to them after you revoke it.
- Navigate to Badgr via the Badges item in the left-side course navigation menu.
- Click the Progress tab in the Badgr app.
- Find the page where the student in question appears or search for the student by name with the search box.
- For a particular student, click the badge you wish to revoke to open the detail dialog.
- Click Revoke Badge.
Deleting a Badge
-
To delete a badge that has already been awarded, you will first need to revoke the badge from each recipient that it was awarded to. See Revoking badges
- To delete a badge that has not yet been awarded click DELETE in the right side column.
